Who you are contracting with

WellCited is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], registered in [JURISDICTION] at [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. “We”, “us” and “WellCited” mean that entity. “You” means the person or organisation that creates an account.

By creating an account or running a scan you accept these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.

What the service does

WellCited fetches publicly available pages from domains you nominate, scores them against a fixed set of heuristic checks, samples answers from third-party answer engines using prompts you control, and generates text artifacts — llms.txt files, JSON-LD markup, FAQ blocks and content briefs — from those results.

We do not modify your site. We do not receive credentials to your site, your CMS, your analytics or your advertising accounts, and we will never ask for them.

What we do not promise

Answer engines are third-party systems that change without notice and return different answers to the same question at different times. We report what we observed at the time we observed it. We do not promise that publishing an artifact will cause any engine to mention you, and we do not promise any ranking, citation, traffic or revenue outcome.

Scores produced by the free audit and by scans are our own heuristic measures. They are useful for comparison over time. They are not endorsed by, affiliated with, or predictive of the behaviour of OpenAI, Perplexity, Google or any other provider.

Your responsibilities

You may only submit domains you own or are authorised to audit on behalf of the owner. Running scans against a third party's site to build a competitive dossier is your call and your liability, not ours.

• Don't use the service to overload, probe or attack a site you don't control.
• Don't resell raw API access or scrape the product's own interface.
• Don't upload prompts or brand names that infringe someone else's rights.
• Keep your account credentials to yourself — activity under your account is attributed to you.

Credits, billing and cancellation

Paid plans grant a number of credits at the start of each billing period. One credit is one prompt answered by one engine. Plan credits expire at the end of the period they were granted for. Credits bought as one-time scan packs do not expire.

Payments are processed by [PAYMENT PROCESSOR], who is the merchant of record. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not pro-rate a partial month.

If a scan fails for reasons on our side, the credits for the failed portion are refunded to your balance automatically. Cash refunds are handled case by case at [SUPPORT EMAIL].

Suspension and termination

We may suspend an account that is abusing the audit endpoint, running scans against sites it has no relationship with after being asked to stop, or failing to pay. Where we can, we will tell you first.

You can delete your account at any time from the account page. Deletion removes your sites, prompts, scans and generated artifacts. Public scorecards you created are deleted with it unless you ask us to keep a specific one.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the [LIABILITY WINDOW] before the claim arose. We are not liable for lost profits, lost traffic, or decisions you made on the basis of a score.

Changes and governing law

We may change these terms. Material changes are emailed to account holders at least [NOTICE PERIOD] before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW], and the courts of [VENUE] have exclusive jurisdiction.
